Briscoe Seems Like A Long Shot
2015 5-star PG Isaiah Briscoe has been on Syracuse's radar for sometime now, but it seems like both are losing interest. Briscoe hasn't talked much about Syracuse lately, but he did mention that he added Gonzaga and Providence to his list, per Johnny Pavia.
Isaiah continues to list Syracuse in his schools that he is still interested in, but never mentions how interested he is. Playing time could potentially be the main issue with Syracuse. No signs yet on what Tyler Ennis' future plans are at Syracuse, but he could end up leaving after his freshman season. Ennis' future doesn't affect Briscoe's decision directly, but could implicate how much playing time Kaleb Joseph will receive as a freshman. If Ennis stays for his sophomore year, one would think he'll be heading to the NBA as a lottery pick in 2015. Briscoe could step in and share time with Kaleb Joseph right away, but would still be a full season behind him in this system.
Currently, I would give Syracuse an 8-10% chance of landing Isaiah, and that's being generous. The fit doesn't seem right for either party. Syracuse, in my opinion, is leaning more towards Thomas Bryant or Moustapha Diagne for their next commitment. I think the Orange will take 4 in their 2015 class. Ennis/Grant=NBA by 2015, Christmas/Nassar=graduate after 2014-15 season. I expect Albert Nassar to be awarded the final scholarship on next years team, which would open up a scholarship upon his graduation after next season.
2013-14 scholarship count: 13, 0 leftover.
2014-15 scholarship count: 12, 1 leftover. If Grant/Ennis stay. Senior walk-on Albert Nassar awarded final scholarship.
2015-16 scholarship count: 9, 4 leftover. Take 4 in 2015 class. Assuming Grant/Ennis leave for NBA. (Highly likely).
