Tyus Battle's Recruitment Picking Up
Tyus Battle is one of the most sought after players in the country right now, and he's only a sophomore. The 2016 5-star G from New Jersey is drawing attention from Syracuse, Indiana, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Villanova, Duke, SMU, and UConn, among many others. Battle visited Syracuse last weekend for SU's 91-89 OT win vs. Duke. Tyus' father, Gary Battle, told SNY.tv that they enjoyed their visit, "the atmosphere was amazing" and his mother "loved it." That's good news for Syracuse, but they're not alone in the recruitment.
Duke, Indiana, and SMU are all scheduled to watch Battle play this week, per Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com. Kentucky has shown interest in the 5-star guard as well. Gary Battle told SNY.tv that he has been in contact with Duke associate head coach Steve Wojciechowski on "a regular basis."
Battle intended to visit Villanova for their game last night against SMU, but canceled. Both SMU and Villanova have shown interest in the elite guard.
My belief is Syracuse is the leader. It's very early in his recruitment, Tyus won't have to make a decision for another two years. The visit to SU went extremely well, and the Orange should like their position with him.
